LUKE: 10:5
This quote from the tenth chapter of Luke occurred while Jesus' ministry was traveling to Jerusalem. He sent out seventy-two messengers ahead of him to go two by two to the towns and places he was headed. The full verse says that, (2) He told them, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. (another great line!). Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. (3) Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves. (4) Do not take a purse or bag of sandals; and do not greet anyone on the road. (5) When you enter a house, first say, 'Peace to this house.' (6) If a man of peace is there, your peace will rest on him; if not, it will return to you." Of course, Jesus and his disciples were "harvesting" souls and Jesus knew that they would sometimes be met with opposition. But he instructed his disciples to always act with respect, love and kindness regardless of what they might face.
